Chemise vs. Long Gown

I bought a couple of long gowns a few years back, that have bras built into them. They were pricey but I love them anyway, and am always looking around for another.

I keep seeing two terms...long gown and chemise.What are the differences between the two?

Is a chemise a relatively shapeless garment, with the long gown having more detail and shaping?
